The India Section YP Committee acts as a forum for oil and gas YPs to present and disseminate information amongst themselves in order to prepare and equip the new generation of oil and gas leaders to confidently face future global challenges.
SPE has a vision for “youth engaged in the petroleum industry to design a sustainable future,” which can be achieved through creating collaborative, global forums where YPs can be heard, promote a realistic image of the petroleum industry—its challenges and opportunities—and bridge the generation gap through mentorship networks.
The first YP meet was greeted by the India Section YP liaison, Madhavi Jadhav, followed by an inaugural speech by the Section secretary Sanjay Parulkar. The section was thrilled to see a large turnout and also happy to conduct the inaugural YP meet.
YPs were also briefed about SPE’s e-mentorship program which gives them a chance to be mentored or serve as mentors to students from around the world. A case study titled, “Classical Reservoir Engineering Methods to Study Water Surveillance Analysis,” was delivered by Sudeb Kundu, reservoir engineer at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, India.
The YP meet certainly justified its objective and is here to stay and nurture YPs for years to come!
