Khalid Al-Falih

Khalid Al-Falih, SPE, was appointed minister of the newly expanded Ministry of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources for Saudi Arabia, succeeding Ali Al-Naimi as the minister of petroleum and mineral resources. He was previously the minister of health for Saudi Arabia. Al-­Falih was appointed chairman of the board of directors for Saudi Aramco in 2015 and will continue to hold that role. He has served as the chief executive officer (CEO) and president of Saudi Aramco since 2009 and held several senior management roles at the company over the years, including executive vice president of operations business center and senior vice president of industrial relations. In 2001, he was appointed vice president of gas ventures development and played an instrumental role in the country’s natural gas initiative. He is a founding member of the board of trustees of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and has served on the board since 2008. Al-Falih holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M ­University and an MBA from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
