Kamel BenNaceur, SPE, has been appointed director for sustainable energy policy and technology at the International Energy Agency (IEA). In his new role, Bennaceur will lead efforts to modernize IEA’s approach to energy technology. Before joining IEA, he was a senior adviser at Schlumberger, and was Tunisia’s minister of industry, energy, and mines in 2014. At Schlumberger, Bennaceur held management roles in several continents, and was the chief economist and vice president of technology in Rio de Janeiro. Bennaceur graduated from École Polytechnique and École Normale Supérieure in Paris, and holds a PhD from Mines Paris Tech.
