Well Integrity Challenges From Casing Failures During Fracturing
Downhole casing damage is being increasingly recognized as a challenge to well integrity in the active or child well (the well being fractured) and is a distinctly different than the fracture driven incidents that have an impact on passive wells (typically offset wells). This one-day training course will examine the potential causes and possible prevention actions that may be taken during well drilling and completions steps.
This course is an expansion of the instructor’s Well Integrity course, and will additionally cover fracture-driven-interactions (frac hits) and casing failures during fracturing.
Recommended for drilling, completions and production personnel.
Students should have an existing understanding of ESP equipment and operations.

George E. King of Viking Engineering is a registered professional engineer with over 43 years of experience since starting with Amoco Production Research in 1971. His technical work has provided advances in foam fracturing, production from unstable chalk, underbalanced perforating, sand control reliability, gas shale completions and fracturing. Currently, he is working with new technologies for the oil and gas industry.
King has written 71 technical papers and was awarded the 2004 SPE Production Operations Award and the 2012 Engineer of the Year Award from the Houston Region of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.
King holds a BS in chemistry from Oklahoma State (1972), a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Tulsa (1976) and a MS in Petroleum Engineering from University of Tulsa (1982), where he also taught completions and workovers for 11 years as an adjunct professor.
