ATCE Program Committee

About the Committee

The ATCE Program Committee is comprised of a Program Chairperson, Vice Program Chairperson, seven Specialty Coordinators and sixteen subcommittees. The conduct and leadership of the committee is held by the Program Chairperson. The Vice Program Chairperson is in attendance for all functions, being mentored by the Program Chairperson with the agreement that he or she will step up to fill the Program Chairperson position the following year. Subcommittees are comprised of approximately 8 to 15 members.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Actively engaged in one or more areas involved in the subcommittee’s scope of coverage
  • Should have excellent knowledge of industry operations in the area

Expected Time Commitment

  • An organizational or “kick-off” meeting for the next year’s Program Committee, Program Committee Clinic and subcommittees is held during the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition
  • The subcommittees may have status calls during the open call for paper period to evaluate current participation
  • A conference call of the Program Committee is held in January for the chairpersons to provide a status report on the solicitation efforts being made by their committees
  • In February, the subcommittees meet to review the rated paper proposals submitted and develop recommendations for technical sessions for submittal to the ATCE Program Committee
  • A selection meeting of the Program Committee will be held in March to review all recommendations and select special sessions to finalize the technical program
  • Two weeks prior to the manuscript deadline date, Session Chairpersons will review a draft version of the author’s manuscript for commercialism and/or trade names as well as confirm the technical content does not differ from the original proposal submitted and accepted for presentation
  • One month prior to the conference, Session Chairpersons will review the author’s presentations materials for clarity, commercialism and/or trade names or use of company logos

Deliverables and Expectations

  • Monitor activity in their fields worldwide
  • Identify topics that should be pursued for presentation in the technical program. This includes identifying companies and individuals active in development work and operations in the area worldwide, and the encouragement to submit paper proposals
  • Members are to also serve as Session Chairperson in their developed sessions
