Message from the Section Chair

On behalf of the Bergen Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the conference organising committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2015 SPE Bergen One Day Seminar.
For 21 years, the SPE Bergen Section has organised the One Day Seminar to disseminate and
exchange technical knowledge. Last year for the first time, the SPE Bergen One Day Seminar
was an SPE paper conference, which elevated the event to a whole new status. We saw that
the technical quality of the presentations reached a new and even better level, and national
and international interest is increasing.

The programme committee, with Thorbjørn Kaland as chairman, has reviewed an extensive
list of abstracts, and we are confident that the technical programme includes the necessary
breadth of topics and in-depth content from the different disciplines. With a comprehensive
multidisciplinary technical programme, the SPE Bergen One Day Seminar offers four parallel
sessions with a variety of topics pertaining to the upstream industry and knowledge sharing
ePoster sessions. Dedicated full-day software demonstration sessions will also be part of the
seminar programme. I am certain you will find activities and topics to suit your interests.
The technical exhibition will be held in an area of approximately 2,000 square metres. Here
you will find the latest leading-edge technologies showcased by participating companies
and institutions.

The vision of the SPE Bergen Section is to create the ideal environment for knowledge
sharing and networking within the E&P industry in Bergen.

During the past 22 years, the Bergen Section has stayed true to SPE’s mission to collect,
disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development,
and production of oil and gas resources and related technologies for the public benefit;
and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional

SPE encourages the younger generation to take the next step by challenging existing
methods, tools, and technologies to evolve the industry and secure a great and exciting
future for generations to come. The demand for fossil fuels—by the emerging global market
and industrial countries—will challenge the industry to develop sustainable and efficient
solutions, technologies, and methods.

Welcome to Bergen and the One Day Seminar.
