Message from the Program Committee Chairs
We are pleased to invite you to join the SPE Subsea Well Intervention Symposium, taking place at the Galveston Island Convention Center in Galveston, Texas, USA on 7–9 August 2018.
We look forward to having in-depth discussion with you on subsea intervention, subsea well abandonment, marine technology, high-pressure operations, and regulatory issues. View the technical agenda.
This symposium seeks to identify learnings from new technology and techniques to improve production from subsea and deepwater wells, share the latest knowledge for rigless intervention and high-pressure subsea well intervention operations, and present case studies on subsea well plug and abandonment/decommissioning techniques, and integrated well operations. It will also present the latest regulatory trends for subsea well operations in the US, Brazil, and North Sea.
Almost four years after the crash in the oil and gas commodity prices, there is a general consensus that the bottom has been reached. Over the next 3-5 years, a modest recovery in the oil industry is expected. With the new reality of unconventional resources providing much of the new production, it is unlikely to soon see a return to the level of deepwater exploration and development that was common years several ago. In this environment, deepwater interventions have a key role to play in replacing reserves that are increasing in demand. Now, we look to the future for new opportunities.
You may recognize many of the advisory committee members as having previously been associated with the Deepwater Intervention Forum. For this event, we are working with SPE, which allows us to combine the best of our expertise with the global reach and support of SPE.
We encourage you to attend the symposium in August!
