SPE/EAGE Workshop: The Future of Geomechanics in Brown Fields and Unconventionals 2 - 3 May 2018 Jumeirah at Etihad Towers Abu Dhabi, UAE

Thank you for attending the SPE/EAGE Workshop.
Plan your attendance to other SPE events in your region or technical area.

The SPE/EAGE Geomechanics workshop in Abu Dhabi, themed “The Future of Geomechanics in Brown Fields and Unconventionals” focuses on how geomechanics are currently being used at present, and how they can help in the future with the increasing pressure to maximise recovery from challenging environments.

Through six sessions across two days, this workshop provides opportunities for operators, service companies, and researchers to discuss common challenges, and examine the application of new and future technologies to solve them.

"With the so-called “easy oil” gone, geomechanics has become an integral part of field development (including well construction, completion, and production) in order to maximise delivery. Many subsurfaces processed in a field’s life cycle induce or trigger a mechanical response from the rock formations penetrated by boreholes and produced from. Activities in the Middle East region currently concentrate on mature reservoirs that are fractured and, many, even tight. On top, unconventional source rock exploration and appraisal adds to the complex regional portfolio. The upcoming SPE/EAGE geomechanics workshop—the third in this series—will focus on these aspects and future challenges with a series of exciting and technical presentations, keynote speeches, as well as discussion forums gathering renowned and experienced industry experts and researchers."
