The GAIA Summit – Oil and Gas on the Right Side of History?
Generating trust, enabling engagement and stimulating innovation
In collaboration with
In 2015, the United Nations unveiled a list of 17 goals intended to make the planet a more sustainable place for all life to grow and thrive.
Over the last forty-five years, the oil and gas industry has sought to understand and manage its role within society, usually as a result of external forces. The industry has gained a new understanding of societal expectations and has made significant progress, but are we doing enough, fast enough and smart enough to ensure our efforts, contributions and aspirations place the industry firmly on the right side of history? What more can our combined brainpower, awareness, values and infrastructure achieve?
The GAIA Summit and subsequent events are being designed to help the industry be more proactive, even more collaborative, and create a more joined up conversation that mobilises forces and resources not yet in the service of the sustainability challenges we should be in the center of resolving and trusted to do so.
SPE Gaia Summit will assemble individuals representing key industry associations, individual members, industry trade bodies, academia, community activists and their proxies, investors, operators, service companies, regulators and scientists. Delegates will explore difficult questions in a safe environment encouraging openness of discussion that will lead to the production of a white paper that will be made available for broader engagement as well as informing future GAIA events.
Together this diverse group, supported by a skilled facilitator will back cast a shared vision of the industry meeting humanity’s need for energy whilst fully integrating practices compatible with sustainable development
