Towards Resilient and Sustainable Energy Strategies
With the reliance of countries on diminishing natural resources to fuel economic growth against increasing demands to energise vital sectors such as industries, transportation, and power, it is prudent for countries to generate secure, sustainable, practical and resilient energy strategies that not only maximises the utilisation of these non-renewable resources but also to take them to the new energy landscape that would guarantee the prosperity of their populations.
Many countries, especially in this region, depend on indigenous non-renewable natural resources to meet energy demands. However, in the long-term, countries would have to be able to meet the increasing demand from other energy sources which will incur considerable additional costs such as importing energy, through LNG or power, implementing renewables, nuclear, etc. Countries would need to envision the long-term energy landscape now in order to be able to sustain their economies and growth.
