SPE Workshop: Tight Gas - Challenges and Opportunities 25 - 27 Feb 2019 Grand Millennium Hotel Muscat, Oman

Thank you for attending the SPE Workshop.
Plan your attendance to other SPE events in your region or technical area.

The need for a shift in mindset, expanding work processes beyond the conventional way of data examination, well construction, and reservoir development is becoming more vital.  This goes hand-in-hand with the support of new technologies and industry maturation.

This edition of the tight gas workshop focussed on addressing, sharing, and discussing key challenges, best practices from around the globe to improve reservoir understanding, rock characterisation, well deliverability, and reservoir accessibility in tight gas fields. Additionally, the focus was on the latest available new technology that may reduce tight gas developer cost and increasing return on investment.

While regional tight gas development continues expanding, challenges are continually encountered in both technical and non-technical developments.

Seismic limitations, reservoir characterisation and facility complexity are all challenges in tight gas reservoirs development.

Improved understanding of the static features, fluid type, fluid dynamics, optimum well design, and reservoir accessibility are key factors leading to unlocking and maximising value from tight and unconventional reservoirs.
