Speaker(s)
Daniel Valencio - Tecpetrol S.A., John Lee - Texas A&M University, Jose Gildardo Osorio-Gallego - PLUSPETROL, Edward Tovar - Ecopetrol
The opening panel session at LACPEC will focus on technologies and field operations that improve asset development in unconventional plays. A panel of experts from operators, service companies, and academia will discuss the evolution of best practices in different basins in North and Latin America and how the knowledge exchange unlocked resources that were previously uneconomic.
The panelists will also share their experience and hurdles adopting tools and workflows for reservoir characterization, drilling, well stimulation, flow assurance, and production forecasting, aimed at improving efficiency in operations and increasing recovery factors from the reservoirs.
Finally, they will describe the remaining challenges in the understanding of flow mechanism and regimes, phase behavior and modeling that have resulted in a trial and error of prediction tools. Consequently, it has become a challenge the optimization of well placement, well design, production and ultimate recovery forecasting.
