Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the 2020 Virtual Latin America and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference program committee members and co-chairpersons, we would like to thank you for attending this event, held alongside the 2020 SPE Virtual International Conference and Exhibition on Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability on 28–30 July 2020.

The planning of this year’s conference program took approximately 30 months and was originally planned to take place on 17–19 March 2020 in Bogota, Colombia. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed and transitioned to a virtual format.

We received over 700 paper proposals, of which 249 were selected, and 156 finally presented. They were distributed over 50 technical sessions and four ePoster sessions throughout the five very fruitful days of the conference.

Our event opening had the participation of the Colombian Minister of Mines and Energy along with General Chairperson Felipe Bayon, SPE Latin America and Caribbean Regional Director Cesar Patino, and the 2021 SPE President Dr. Tom Blasingame.

Thanks to you, 804 attendees from over 40 countries attended LACPEC.
