Workshop Guidelines

Event Format and Programme

  • SPE Workshop maximises idea exchange among attendees and discussion leaders through brief technical presentations followed by extended Q&A periods.
  • Workshops typically spans two (2) days with highly focused topics to provide attendees with practical information on the latest applications of relevant technology, illustrated with field case studies and examples.
  • Each day will consist of a morning and an afternoon technical session, and may include a scheduled evening session. Additionally, poster sessions may be arranged as part of the programme.
  • The technical programme is planned and developed by the Workshop Programme Committee, which comprises an international group of 12 to 15 subject matter experts. The programme committee is led by two Co-Chairs.

Abstract Submission and Speaking Opportunity

  • The technical programme is comprised of abstracts and informal presentations solicited by the committee.
  • There will be no paper publication in SPE OnePetro, hence manuscript submission is not required after an abstract has been reviewed and approved by the committee.
  • Only presentations that have been authorised for release by speakers/discussion leaders are compiled by SPE staff and distributed to attendees post-event.

Attendance

  • All attendees (including committee members and speakers/facilitators/discussion leaders) are required to register for the workshop at accorded registration rates established by SPE. Such fee will cover attendance at all sessions, workshop programme, coffee breaks, networking luncheons and dinner (as indicated in the programme), Continuing Education Units (CEU) certification, and post-workshop pack.
  • The Chairs and members of the Workshop Programme Committee, and facilitators/speakers/discussion leaders, serve as volunteers in their work for the SPE event. SPE policy prohibits the paying of any SPE honorarium, or any travel or lodging expenses connected with committee work and/or speaking at the event.

Commercialism

  • SPE has a stated policy against use of commercial trade names, company names, or language that is commercial in tone in the abstract and presentation title, text or slides. Use of such terms will result in careful scrutiny by the Programme Committee in evaluating abstracts and presentation materials.
