Message From the Chairs

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Conference Committees, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2022 SPE International Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition (IHFTC), after few postponements due to COVID restrictions it is now taking place on 11–13 January 2022, in Muscat, Oman.

Hydraulic fracturing technology has gone through significant developments via continuous advances and method improvements in its application. These advances and improvements have brought hydraulic fracturing to new heights and new geographies in the oil and gas industry having contributed significantly to the reduction in the development costs of many resources and can offer more creative, effective and energy efficient ways of developing valuable and more difficult to produce oil and gas resources.

With the theme “Fracturing—Accessing the Molecules and Enhancing Recovery", this edition will discover hydraulic fracturing technologies and methods advancements. Key discussions will explore how current and new technologies can be utilised to bring the required paradigm shift in oil and gas development through enhancing accessibility to oil and gas resources more effectively and efficiently and, hence enhancing recovery.

In its second edition in Oman and the Middle East, the SPE IHFTC will bring together industry leaders, experts, researchers, and practitioners from around the globe to discuss, share their experience and expertise, and draw an exciting outlook for the oil and gas energy sector.
