Given the current environment and impending risks, it is crucial to re-evaluate business portfolios to improve production output and oil recovery factors. Finding new and sizeable fields is challenging in addition to the impacts sustained from market volatility which affects investments in exploration and new development. With a considerably large amount of recoverable oil and gas remaining in various mature fields, asset owners and operators have focused on adding value to existing assets. Operating with fewer resources and faced with technical challenges, there is a renewed focus on integrated field planning and development strategies at every stage in the reservoir lifecycle.

Reservoir Management Surveillance Summit (RMSS), launched in 2015, is a bi-annual event by PETRONAS that gathers industry leaders, technical experts, and engineers with the aim to address current reservoir management and surveillance issues. The last RMSS edition in 2019 featured comprehensive and holistic solutions from subsurface and surface facilities perspective, and covered key scopes such as technology deployment, disciplines of execution, and most importantly, seamless integration of all parties from subsurface to export points. In collaboration with SPE, this year’s RMSS has been rebranded as the SPE Upstream Asset Management Summit (UAMS) to incubate a more holistic approach on asset management, and increase diversification of participation from industry players.
