Welcome From the Programme Chair

Dear Colleagues,

A sustainable future together can only be secured by adapting to the challenges and navigating with technologies especially designed to shape the energy landscape. Working towards the energy transition is a challenge for our industry that needs innovation and ingenuity in many areas.

Last year we launched a new focus of SPE EuropEC – European Energy conference, in an effort to showcase the best subsurface geoscience and engineering innovation, now with a focus on technologies that contribute to our future energy mix. Dedicated topic areas were created for capture and storage of fluids, extraction of heat and materials, sustainability in the energy industry and NetZero energy economics. We now also include efficient reservoir management and digitization/AI as well as topics such as CCS, CCUS, hydrogen storage and brine extraction.

I am glad to extend an invitation for you to the city of Vienna, the home of classical music, holding ten times the title as the most liveable city in the world. A beautiful place full of landmarks and urban charm, with a rich and long history. A fun fact; croissants are Viennese and were created in celebration of the Habsburgs' defeat of the Ottoman empire at the Battle of Vienna in 1683.

As Programme Committee Chair, it is my pleasure to host you in the city of Vienna and alongside the rest of the Committee, we look forward to welcoming you to share your knowledge and experience.

We invite you to participate in SPE EuropEC by submitting a paper proposal that shares your innovation, technical advancement, best practices, and case studies with your industry peers.

Liebe grüße aus Wien,
