Over the past 30 years, we have seen fibre optic sensing (FOS) progress from distributed temperature sensing (DTS) in the 1990s, to inclusion of optical-based pressure gauges, seismic accelerometers, flowmeters, and other various point sensors in the 2000s, to the introduction of distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) in the 2010s.
