This workshop is the SPE pre-eminent venue to showcase new and innovative practices and interpretation methods such as pressure transient analysis (PTA) and rate transient analysis (RTA) for well performance and production forecasting driven by the community of SPE. For this workshop, case studies that demonstrate the practical applications of theories, models, diagnostics and interpretations methods from the field are key. Examples are presented from operators in unconventional reservoirs from the US, Canada, Argentina, the Middle East and basins in China and Australia.

The goal of these operator focused presentations will be to provide real world examples where the participants can learn and contribute to the knowledge and practice of assessing well performance in unconventional reservoir systems.  Specific emphasis will be on issues that operators prioritize — e.g., choke/drawdown management, GOR (and WOR) evolution, "fracture-driven -interactions" ("frac-hits"), well spacing, and so-called "parent-child" well effects in multi-well developments.

Who Should Attend

Reservoir, completion, and production engineers who work in tight gas (or oil) and unconventional (shale) reservoirs.

Geoscience personnel engaged in the formation evaluation of unconventional reservoirs.

Management and operations personnel who supervise/ participate in the operational aspects of unconventional reservoirs.

Researchers involved in the investigation of reservoir characterization, production diagnostics and understanding of pressure/rate relationships in unconventional (shale) reservoirs.
