Damilola Ojedeji

Damilola Ojedeji was born in Oyo State, Nigeria, where he had his primary and secondary school education. He moved to Lagos after his secondary education to study Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. His decision to study Petroleum Engineering stemmed from his proclivity towards mathematics and his love for physical sciences. The experience he garnered during his undergraduate degree shaped his thoughts towards employing his skills to the betterment of Nigeria and the world at large.

Due to his clarity of purpose and passion for Petroleum Engineering, he worked assiduously during his undergraduate degree at the University of Lagos, graduating with a first class honors degree. Also, Damilola was a recipient of numerous scholarships including the Chevron-Agbami scholarship award and the Dr. Olumide Philip scholarship for the best third year Petroleum engineering student in South West, Nigeria.

He previously had his internship with Total Exploration and Production Nigeria limited as a production performance intern, which sharpened his research and analytical thinking skills. Also, he briefly worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Research and Development of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he equipped himself with the basics of conducting independent research.

Damilola is currently a Master’s Degree student and a Research Assistant at the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Louisiana State University, where he conducts research to understand and model the behavior of gas influx in Non-aqueous Drilling fluids for enhanced well control.

He is honored and grateful to be one of the recipients of the 2019 Imomoh Scholarship. Scholarships such as this will continue to motivate African students to reach for their goals. In the near future, he hopes to facilitate avenues like the Imomoh Scholarship to help Africans achieve their dreams.
