Bright Odike

Bright Eyindah Odike is a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Energy and Mineral Engineering (Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering option) at the Pennsylvania State University. His current research interests intersect the integration of data-driven and analytical models for investigating multiphase fluid flow dynamics and production forecasting of unconventional reservoirs. At present, he has co-authored two publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is currently a graduate assistant at the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering, Pennsylvania State University.

Born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Bright attended Rivers State University for a bachelor’s degree program in Petroleum Engineering; he graduated with First Class Honors and emerged as the Best Graduating Student in his class. Other than his academic interests, he likes engaging in several extracurricular and volunteer activities. During his undergraduate program, he volunteered as a departmental tutor, thus promoting coherent academic growth among his colleagues and juniors. His service to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) began with volunteering as the Secretary-General of the SPE Rivers State University Students’ Chapter. He was also a captain of the chapter’s Petrobowl Team, representing his school at the SPE Nigeria Council Students Technical Symposium and Exhibition (STSE) Regional Qualifiers. In addition, he has previously volunteered as a Young Professional Member of the SPE Port Harcourt Section.

Bright visions himself as a goal-driven young professional with a zest to continue making exploits and playing an active role in the global energy scenario. He is enthusiastic about honing his research, teaching, and programming skills. In the future, his ultimate goal is to become a Professor of Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering. He is delighted to receive the 2022 SPE Imomoh Scholarship, and he hopes this inspires the next generation of young energy players.
