Sanchay Mukherjee is a PhD student in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He is working under the guidance of Dr. Russell T. Johns. Sanchay holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (India) and University of Oklahoma (US) respectively.

In his current research, Sanchay is trying to explain the underlying physics in relative permeability hysteresis using Pore Network Modeling (PNM) simulations. His interest in scientific research has evolved and sustained itself through an array of projects relating to petrophysics and reservoir engineering, many of which have been published in prestigious peer reviewed journals and were presented in international conferences.

Sanchay has been an active member in technical student chapters (President, OU SPWLA (2019-20) and Publicity chair, UPES SPE (2015-16)). In future, he aspires to work with passionate researchers like himself in discerning unprecedented steps and methodologies that would cater to the world’s energy crisis.
