Lundin Norway’s 16/4-9 S exploration well intersected a 23-m gross oil column at the Luno II North prospect, 15 km south of the Edvard Grieg field, in the North Sea. The pay was encountered in Jurassic/Triassic conglomeratic sandstones and pressure data indicated that the petroleum system is different from the nearby Luno II discovery. The well produced oil at a rate of 1,000 B/D through a 32/64-in. choke during a drillstem test. Lundin (50%) is the operator of the license with partners OMV Norge (20%), Statoil (15%), and Wintershall Norge (15%).
