Oil Search, operator of the Taza 2 well in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, has decided—after talks with the Kurdistan Ministry for Natural Resources—to temporarily suspend the well due to supply chain interruptions. Taza 2 is located 10 km northwest of Taza 1 and is designed to appraise hydrocarbon-bearing intervals discovered by Taza 1, as well as explore deeper Tertiary and Cretaceous targets, including the Shiranish formation. Other operations in the Taza area are so far continuing, including Taza 3 well activities and 3D seismic acquisition. The Taza production sharing contract is operated by Oil Search (60%), with partners Total E&P Kurdistan Reqion of Iraq (20%) and Kurdistan Regional Government (20%).
