Allspeeds designed the Webtool HP690 intensifier panel in response to industry concerns about the use of high-pressure hydraulics and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) hydraulic intensifier panels. The company identified that the main safety issue was the use of a check value in standard pressure intensifiers. Failure to reverse pressure manually, or in the event of a hydraulic power unit or ROV breakdown causing the inability to reverse pressure, will result in a high-pressure circuit at approximately 10,000 psi, which will remain energized while the ROV resurfaces. In response, the company designed its new intensifier panel with a proportional valve rather than a check valve, which safeguards the user with automatic protection from the possibility of locked-in high-pressure hydraulic fluid.
