GE Oil & Gas introduced flexible pipes to help customers overcome challenging subsea conditions such as those found in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. The company built the flexible pipe with multiple layers made with a specific material to transport oil and natural gas in the Santos Basin, where it is one of two accredited providers of flexible pipes. Traditional flexible pipes are made with highly engineered technologies to handle extreme pressures, temperatures, and currents. The new pipes build on these characteristics by adding new materials specifically engineered to withstand the more acidic environment.
