GE Measurement and Control’s ROWA-WT ultrasonic test machine for seamless tube and pipes combines high-end signal processing with phased array ultrasonic technology. It allows all dimensional wall thickness measurements to be performed at speeds as fast as 2 m/s. The machine’s phased array ultrasonic transducers are electronically controlled to provide a full coverage of the tube’s circumference, and they are coupled to the surface by means of a rotating water jacket. It measures the inner and outer diameters of the seamless pipe and the wall thickness as well as inner wall deformation and laminations.
