Statoil has speeded up the development of the the Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea with the awarding of three engineering, procurement, and construction contracts. IKM Ocean Design was awarded a contract for the gooseneck spool and retrofit hot tap tee. Another contract was awarded to ABB AB of Sweden for the fabrication and installation of two high-voltage power cables and a fiber-optic communication cable. A third contract went to FMC Technologies’ subsidiary Kongsberg Subsea AS covering the establishment of a new and cost-efficient standard for subsea equipment. The contracts were awarded on behalf of Gassco, the operator of the field, with work expected to be completed within 2 years.
