How to Maximize Your Virtual Conference Experience

Welcome to SPE’s First Virtual International Conference and Exhibition on Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability


We are excited to have you join us for SPE’s first Virtual International Conference and Exhibition on Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability.

With a virtual event, you will be able to replicate the experience of being at an ‘in-person’ conference with a lobby, technical session rooms, exhibition hall and networking areas. You can be part of secure, online experiences from the comfort and convenience of your home or office.

Review the following information to enhance your Virtual Conference experience.


Dates, Time and Length of the Conferences

The SPE virtual HSES Conference experience

  • Will be 5 days of live access, 27 – 31 July 2020
  • Sessions will go live at Colombia Time (UTC -5:00)
    Over the dates of the conference, Colombia and Houston share the same time zone
  • Content will be available on-demand for 90 days

Access to the Virtual Conferences

All registered attendees will receive an email from spe.registration@kenes.com with their credentials.

The email will contain your unique credentials and password to begin your virtual conference experience.

Social Media

Chat about and follow the conferences beforehand. Tweet during the event using #WeAreSPE alongside #SPEhse and #LACPEC2020 to be featured in the Twitter wall. Invite your friends, peers, and colleagues to join you at the conferences.

When to First Access the Virtual Conference Platform

The secure virtual platform will go live the day before the event, on Sunday, 26 July 2020 at 9:00am Colombia Time (UTC -5:00). Take a moment to customize your user profile. 

How to Prepare for the Virtual Conference

From the virtual lobby, go to your user profile.

Add a photo and update your contact information to make your conference networking experience more engaging and memorable.

Be prepared to interact and engage. Review the Virtual Event Code of Conduct before the event.

Use the receive credentials that you received in an email from spe.registration@kenes.com.

Prepare yourself to:

  • Engage in technical sessions through chats and interact with presenters during discussions.

Technical Sessions

All technical presentations will take place live at their specified Colombia Time (UTC -5:00) and will remain available on-demand for 90 days post-event.

Join the live Q&A at the end of each session to connect with authors.


Explore ePosters for the latest information and knowledge sharing. Chat with authors during and after the conference.


Live Sessions

Hear from the game changers during the Opening Ceremony, Executive Plenary Session, LACPEC Panel Sessions, HSES Plenary and Sessions, and HSES Closing Ceremony. More than 13 special sessions!

Live Streaming Session Indicator

As a session begins, look for a “LIVE” indicator will be in the top menu, and in the session itself.

Bookmarking Preferred Presentations

Within the technical agenda, save your favorite technical presentations or sessions to your “Bookmarks” within your user profile. Additionally, you can send a presentation to your calendar invitation, print the information about the presentation, and share the presentation information to your colleagues.


Red Camera Indicator

Within the list of technical sessions, the red camera icon indicates that the session is pre-recorded. Remember to join the live Q&A at the end of each session.


Scroll left or right to move through the Exhibit hall. Once you choose a booth, you will see a marquee message, the exhibitor’s video, resources panel, their logo, and their interaction panel. 

  • Chat with the exhibitor and with other participants
  • Schedule a 1:1 meeting with the exhibitor
  • Send an email to the exhibitor (during and after the live conference)
  • Download resources


Visit the virtual Lounge during breaks and see who is connected.  Make sure that you have personalized your user profile to maximize your networking experience.

Chat, start video calls, message and exchange v-cards with like-minded peers.

Attendee List

View the list of all participants, whether they are connected or not, and exchange contact information by using your personalized v-card.

About Your Proceedings

You will have perpetual access to the 250+ proceedings of both technical conferences in OnePetro®. Your unique access code is available in the registration email coming from spe.registration@kenes.com, along with your credentials. 

Papers will go live on Monday, 20 July.
