Digital transformation is a journey that is perceived to be rewarding and stimulating but yet challenging. Industries understand that transformation requires new approaches to complement conventional methods. With the inception of IR 4.0, technologies, and environments swiftly evolved and transformed among which is artificial intelligence (AI) that witnessed a rapid progression with great impact. While most companies succeed in applying AI technologies, several companies stumble trying to leverage its value.
In this plenary session, we will hear from industry leaders on the role of AI as one of the main enablers for digital transformation, and long-term resiliency, and efficiency in the energy industry.

No one doubts the power of data science, yet the views about AI are distinct. While some professionals see most of the presented cases, applications and solutions are no more than exaggerated claims. Others present AI as the magic stick to uncover the power of anything.
Tools may be able to execute functions that we can’t perform or solve problems that we can’t solve – faster and more accurate. Tools do not know what problem it solves or even what the results are. Many tools have exceeded the capabilities of humans to solve many problems.
All these advancements are natural evolutions that industries need to capitalise on and invest not for the sake of the technologies themselves but of their intended applications and value. Artificial Intelligence is among the data science tool kit.
AI Applications in the energy industry are two entangled topics that have been extensively discussed due to the diverse nature of the energy industry and the numerous energy resources, the associated environmental impact, the operational implications, and international policies and regulations.
This panel session will explore the potential applications of AI in the energy industry, the keys for successful implementations, and how it can be leveraged to steer the industry towards a more sustainable future.
