About the Workshop

Initial down-hole fiber-optic sensing applications focused on qualitative and semi-quantitative assessment of production/injection processes, thermal flood monitoring and well integrity. Recent advances have moved to more quantitative approaches in flow monitoring, completion diagnostics and DAS-based seismic, having significant impact to the understanding and optimising of  field development and operation: reservoir characterisation, production optimisation, well integrity monitoring and abandonment management.  This workshop will address all aspects of in-well FO sensing, from initial development optimisation through life-of-field operations and abandonment. This two-day workshop will offer sessions that focus on two areas:

  • Fiber-optic sensing application case studies demonstrating value of in-well FO sensing, either alone or synergistic with other monitoring technologies, and
  • New/emerging advancements in sensing technology, deployment and interpretation methodologies that will stimulate additional or higher-valued use of the FO sensing.

The workshop will also provide networking/social periods to connect with colleagues within the industry.

Learn and Understand about the latest Case Studies of Fiber Optic Technologies worldwide in the O&G Sector

This workshop will have international leaders in FOS monitoring/surveillance technology implementation and will address and share how they use technology to maximise asset value, with specific topics relevant to Europe/North Sea/Middle East O&G producers.

  • For those unfamiliar with FOS, you will gain awareness of the application and its value
  • For those actively working with FOS technology, you will learn the latest applications/ and capabilities
  • For those who are service providers and from the OEM sector, expand your knowledge about the breadth of applications in monitoring and surveillance, directly from the technology end-users
  • This workshop will help grow your network with peers in the oil & gas industry, FOS vendors and technology developers

Why Attend?

An SPE workshop is a multi-day event that fosters knowledge sharing in an intensive learning experience. It provides brief technical presentations followed by extensive Q&A and discussion.

The workshop’s program committee members solicit presentations from top industry professionals. This ensures a robust technical program with presentations that are laser focused on critical industry topics.

SPE workshops are highly focused on a given technical topic and provide attendees with an in-depth review in a short amount of time. The agendas include research-based, field-tested industry topics so attendees receive current, relevant technical knowledge.

Income from this event will be invested back into SPE to support many other Society programs. When you attend an SPE event, you help provide even more opportunities for industry professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence. Scholarships, certification, the Distinguished Lecturer program, and SPE’s energy education program Energy4me® are just a few examples of programs supported by SPE.
