Speaker(s) Murray Dighans - Endeavor Energy Resources, Paul Dubois - Railroad Commission of Texas, Stefan Hussenoeder - ExxonMobil, Doug Klepacki - Coterra Energy, Jean-Philippe Nicot - The University of Texas At Austin
The industry has increasingly been employing pressure data to understand the response of subsurface formations to saltwater disposal, a primary causal factor for induced seismicity in the Permian. In addition, the Texas Railroad Commission issued an industry notification that all new SWD permits may carry an expectation of pressure monitoring. This panel will discuss these developments and provide case studies on how the industry is using pressure information to better understand the relationship between subsurface pressure evolution and the behavior and properties of the subsurface formation, such as injectivity and seismicity. Case studies will include the Eddy/Lea County Line SRA (NM), North Culberson Reeves SRA (TX), and Stanton SRA (TX).
