Skylar Smith

Skylar Smith

Skylar Smith is a driven student and aspiring petroleum engineer, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering at Montana Tech in Butte, MT, set to graduate in 2028. A high achiever, Skylar graduated from Jefferson High School with a honors diploma in 2024, demonstrating strong academic skills.

Skylar has gained diverse work experience, including managing a pizza restaurant where she supervised and trained staff, and working as a research intern at Montana Technological University through the NIH SEPA INBRE Pipeline. In this role, Skylar performed advanced tasks like DNA extraction and phage research, and publishing a mycobacteriophage annotation of the phage Starcevich in the national GenBank database.

In addition to academics and work, Skylar is actively involved in extracurricular activities. She is a member of the American Association of Drilling Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Skylar also held leadership positions in the Business Professionals of America (BPA), where they excelled in various state and national competitions during high school.

Committed to community service, Skylar has participated in numerous initiatives, including Red Cross blood drives and Toys for Tots fundraisers with her National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, Jefferson County Fair Board, and Jefferson County DUI Taskforce clubs.
