Imomoh Scholarship Recipients
2025 Recipients
Corine Guemdjo
Corine Guemdjo is a Ph.D. student in Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University, with a master's from the same institution and a bachelor's in General Engineering from the Catholic University of Central Africa. She previously spent eight years as a petroleum engineer at Perenco in Cameroon, working on well performance, reservoir surveillance, waterflood optimization, and data management.
She integrates geology, geophysics, completions, production, and reservoir engineering to enhance production. Corine won first place at Texas A&M’s 2025 Student Research Week for her presentation on novel DCA applications. Her research interests span RTA, DCA, PTA, data analytics, and mentoring young engineers.
Promise Longe
Promise Longe is a Ph.D. student in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Kansas and a researcher with the Tertiary Oil Recovery Program (TORP). His work centers on CO₂-EOR, carbon sequestration, geothermal energy, and hydrogen storage. He has experience in CO₂-EOR optimization, micro-continuum modeling, fracture modeling, and developing proxy models and digital twins.
Promise has authored over 10 technical papers and presented at international conferences. Prior to academia, he worked with Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources, CypherCrescent, and Laser Engineering. An SPE member since 2016, he received the 2023 SPE Egbert Imomoh Scholarship. He is passionate about sustainable energy and mentoring.
Bilal Adaba Ibrahim
Bilal, from Northern Nigeria, is a master’s student in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Vice President of the SPE Student Chapter. His research focuses on fracture representation for surrogate modeling, blending scientific machine learning with subsurface analytics.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Port Harcourt and has industry experience with SLB and Diversified Well Logging in reservoir evaluation, surface logging, and data-driven workflows. Bilal has presented multiple SPE papers and earned honors such as participation in the IRENA Global Youth Forum and IPTC Education Week. He is passionate about human development, mentorship, and innovative subsurface solutions for sustainable energy.
Zainab Iyiola
Zainab Iyiola is a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma, pursuing dual master’s degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Data Science. She graduated top of her class from the University of Mines and Technology, Ghana. Her research spans hydrogen energy systems, EOR, carbon capture and storage, and AI/ML applications for energy optimization.
In 2025, she became the first student from OU’s Mewbourne College to win the university-wide Three Minute Thesis competition. Zainab has earned multiple awards, including Energy Leaders for Tomorrow and several SPE honors, and actively contributes through SPE leadership, volunteering, journal reviewing, and editorial board service.
