Ben Schulke
Ben Schulke is a Petroleum Engineering junior at the University of Oklahoma (OU). After graduating high school as the first-ever National Merit Scholar from Elgin, Oklahoma, Ben was inspired to pursue a degree in Petroleum Engineering to further his knowledge in STEM and learn about the most influential industry in the world. At OU, Ben is involved in several organizations, serving as the Assistant Conference Chair for the OU Student Chapter of SPE and the Secretary of OU Geothermal Rising. His dedication to sustainable energy is evident through his participation in the Geothermal Collegiate Competition, where he collaborates with graduate students to design geothermal energy solutions for a local hospital.
Ben gained valuable industry experience last summer as a Production Engineer intern at Devon Energy and plans to intern with ExxonMobil as a Reservoir Engineer next summer. After graduating next December, Ben hopes to begin his career as a Petroleum Engineer and become a leader in the industry's movement towards net zero. Ben is very grateful for receiving the prestigious SPE Donald G. Russell Scholarship, which recognizes his academic excellence and dedication to the field. This scholarship supports his goal of contributing to a cleaner future.
Alexandra Garvin
Alexandra “Allie” Garvin is an undergraduate petroleum engineering student at Texas A&M. She serves on the Career Enhancement and Industry Experience committees for the Texas A&M student chapter of Society of Petroleum Engineers. Allie worked as a production engineering intern for Hess Corporation, completing a data project on unrealized production in the Bakken. In 2025, she plans to work as an energy analyst intern for Jefferies.
Allie is originally from Meridian, Idaho, and in her free time, enjoys hiking. She will graduate in 2027 with a Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering and a certificate in Finance.
