Engineering Professionalism Committee

About the Committee

The Engineering Professionalism Committee is responsible for the integration of professional activities and practices, including the development, updating, and society-wide awareness of the Petroleum Engineering Skills Matrix. The committee is also responsible for the oversight of the SPE Petroleum Engineering Certification Exam.

The Engineering Professionalism Committee comprises up to 12 members. The committee is geographically diverse to ensure global input on professional practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have an interest in professionalism related to credentials, certification, ethics, and related matters
  • Must be an SPE member

Expected Time Commitment

  • Three-year term 
  • Attendance at one physical meeting at ATCE annually 
  • Additional meetings via teleconference will be held 6-8 times per year 
  • Estimated time commitment per month is approximately two to four hours 

Deliverables and Expectations

  • Actively engage in committee functions, including meetings, to achieve the goals of the committee
  • Monitor activities in the areas of registration, licensure, and/or certification and advise the Board of any significant developments that might occur
  • Be available to discuss committee matters via email with committee members
