Regional awards recognize members who contribute exceptional service and leadership within SPE, as well as making significant professional contributions within their technical disciplines at the SPE regional level.
- Regional nominations are active for one award cycle only (the award year/cycle in which it was submitted).
- Regional awards are presented at local events TBA by the regional director.
- Regional nominations require a minimum of one letter of support, maximum of six, to be uploaded by contributors.
- Regional nominations require candidates to upload their CV/Resume or LinkedIn profile.
NOTE: Effective immediately, the regional and international awards programs will no longer be tied together. Beginning with the 2026 awards season, regional award winners will no longer be eligible to be moved to the international level of competition. If a regional nominator wishes for their winning regional candidate to be considered at the international level, they must submit a new international nomination.

Sustainability and Stewardship in the Oil and Gas Industry Award
The SPE Sustainability and Stewardship in the Oil and Gas Industry Award of the Society of Petroleum Engineers recognizes the outstanding efforts and impacts of individuals in the upstream oil and gas industry, in innovating, adopting, and promoting key aspects of sustainable development at scale. The award will encompass:
Definitions as they pertain to the oil and gas industry
Environmental: Environmental sustainability, including protecting or enhancing biodiversity and ecosystems, reducing, or eliminating any form of greenhouse gas emissions, creating carbon-negative solutions, improving water management, or transforming waste to new valuable products or energy.
Social: Social sustainability, including engaging to create societal and community benefits, environmental justice, human rights, supporting industry staff to build on existing and learn new skills to open new career opportunities, and enabling a fair and just people-centered transition.1

Regional Service Award
The SPE Service Award recognizes contributions to the Society of Petroleum Engineers that exhibit such exceptional devotion of time, effort, thought, and action as to set them apart from other contributions and thereby create an indebtedness of the Society to the contributor.
The importance of this award shall be maintained by issuance only to those relatively few individuals whose contributions stand out sharply even above the excellence of the services rendered each year by several score members of the Society. However, the above does not preclude the committee of award making more than one nomination annually if it deems such action proper. View past recipients.
