2024 Recipient
Ming Ma
Ming Ma is a doctoral degree candidate in energy and mineral engineering (petroleum and natural gas engineering option) at Penn State. His primary research focuses on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) in shale reservoirs, reservoir modeling and simulation, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).
Mariam Shakeel
Mariam Shakeel is from Pakistan, and currently studying for a Ph.D. Petroleum Engineering from Nazarbayev University Kazakhstan. She completed her B.Sc. Petroleum Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 2014 and received a distinction by securing two gold medals. In her Ph.D. research, Mariam is investigating wettability alteration and fines migration mechanisms for oil recovery in sandstone reservoirs following low salinity waterflooding.
Sanchay Mukherjee
Sanchay Mukherjee is a PhD student in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He is working under the guidance of Dr. Russell T. Johns. Sanchay holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (India) and University of Oklahoma (US) respectively. In his current research, Sanchay is trying to explain the underlying physics in relative permeability hysteresis using Pore Network Modeling (PNM) simulations.
Ang Liu
Ang Liu is a Ph.D Candidate in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University. He is working under the supervision of Dr. Shimin Liu. Ang has been working on the challenging issue of multi-mechanistic gas/water transport in intact reservoirs and the much more difficult task of completely de/reconstructed reservoirs – he has mastered geomechanics, transport characteristics and high-level characterization techniques to make an impact in his research studies.
Wei Zhang
Wei Zhang is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University. He is working under the supervision of professor Amin Mehrabian. Wei holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from China University of Petroleum (East China).
