Making an Impact
SPE’s members are driving innovation and impacting almost every field and aspect of our daily lives. Working in the industry supports the global economy and improves the standard of living for people worldwide. Not only does the industry provide energy to the world, thousands of petroleum-based products such as diesel fuel, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, appliances, and fertilizers are used every day. The demand for these products will continue to grow.
Sustainability is important in many industries. Working in oil and gas is an excellent way to help promote environmental sustainability making it safer, cleaner, and more sustainable by cutting emissions. In addition, working in the oil and gas industry you are giving power to community businesses, homes, and larger infrastructures that keep cities moving.
Diversity and Inclusion
At SPE, it is our mission to provide shared expertise, resources, and lifelong learning opportunities to fuel the success of our members and the future of the industry. SPE is committed to fostering and promoting an environment that values everyone's unique journey and welcomes people from all walks of life to connect in an inclusive environment.

SPE Local Community Support
Giving back to our local communities is a big part of our corporate culture.
SPE supports our employees in their volunteer and giving programs and has even organized group volunteer efforts including local food drives and pantries, environmental tree planting, blood drives, holiday angel tree programs and school supply drives.
These types of group events are not only good for the communities, but also good for the hearts of our staff, and in turn, good for SPE.
Testimonials
My current role at SPE has taken me to places I never thought I would go. It has opened me up to different cultures and environments and has given me another reason to continue doing what I do in my role. By assisting our members, I also realized how impactful my role is in helping our members move up the career ladder in their organization.
Senior Technical and Professional Development Manager – Calgary
I started working in SPE in 2010 as a customer service supervisor to establish and expand the CS department in the Asia Pacific office within 2 years I was promoted to Customer service Manager. I like working in SPE because it is a unique organization, it has members from all over the world and is the largest member organization that connects members through the SPE online membership directory and in-person technical events.
Customer Service Manager – Kuala Lumpur
For as long as I’ve worked at SPE, I still feel I learn something new every day. Not only have I learned so much about the industry we serve, but I have traveled internationally and learned about different cultures from my colleagues. I never imagined growing up that I would travel to places like Brazil, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia! SPE has been supportive of my career development, allowing me to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities that challenged me. Also, SPE’s company culture of transparency and kindness is something I have come to value greatly and want to do my part to continue to strengthen.
