This course focuses on the basic concepts required to design, execute, and evaluate a matrix stimulation job.

Objectives: attendees will gain knowledge of basic Matrix Stimulation job considerations and design.

Why Attend

Attendees will learn the basics of damage characterization, production impairment mechanisms and candidate selection. They will learn how to use production historical data, field data and software tools to estimate potential production gains from matrix treatments. Production enhancement methods, and practical scenario of a Basic job design and considerations.

Carlos A. Torres is the founder and owner of Royal Oaks Energy Services, a company focused on technical and business consulting in Well Intervention for O&G, and recently becoming involved in technology transition into Geothermal applications. Upon graduating as a Chemical Engineer in Venezuela in the year 2000, Carlos began his career in the O&G Industry joining Schlumberger that same year. During his tenure with Schlumberger, he progressed from field, technical, sales, operations and Area Level managerial positions in Well Intervention and Pressure Pumping in different regions such as Southeast Asia, Europe, Venezuela and the US.


In 2016 he moved on to Gulfstream Services Inc., a private equity owned company, where until 2018 he served as Director of Sales and Business Development, managing 6 different product lines: cementing systems, frack/gravel pack support equipment, rental tools, wireline pressure control, decommissioning services, and HP iron management.


In the last 7 years he has consolidated and grown Royal Oaks Energy Services as a trusted supplier for Service Companies, Start Ups, providing support on Business and Technical Advisor roles, Project Management, Procurement Supplier and Equipment Rentals for companies in the US and Internationally.


Carlos has been an SPE member since 2002, served in the SPE Delta Section from 2009-15 and in 2019, he joined the SPE GCS Board, becoming Section Chair in 2022, and currently as a Past Chair. Carlos is also a Committee Member of the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association Conference, held in Houston, TX. Carlos has authored and co-authored several technical publications for the industry.
